Ardent Fire Suppression unit in Tanner Brothers restaurant - 12/01/2009

In the Barbican building in Plymouth, the Blackfriars Distillery and the Barbican Kitchen combine two of the area’s best-known brands: Plymouth Gin and the Tanner Brothers.

When looking to protect their busy restaurant business from the disruption and damage caused by a potential kitchen fire, celebrity chefs, brothers Chris and David Tanner, appointed Ardent, the UK’s largest independent fire protection company, to install a fully integrated fire suppression system.

With stainless steel external components, the system is in keeping with the Tanner Brothers ‘concept image of stylised design and provides protection and reliable functionality without compromising the unique ambience of the Barbican dining experience.

Working through the night to minimise the impact on the 7-day week business, Ardent installed a Pyro-Chem Kitchen Knight II Restaurant Fire Suppression System, a pre-engineered product consisting of containers fitted with quick valves and actuators with a wet chemical agent that is designed to suppress restaurant cooking.
