Panama Canal Expansion Challenge

GUPC Consortium won the bid for a multi-billion dollar contract in Panama. This project is one of the largest and most prestigious hydraulic projects of the last decennia. The works include the construction of 6 lock chambers. Each of these lock chambers has a similar size to the 'Berendrecht lock' in Belgium, at this moment the largest lock in the world. The project will take 5 years and create more than 6000 jobs. During that period 40 million m3 of soil will be excavated and 5 million m3 concrete will be poured.

The Project will allow larger vessels to sail between the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean through the Panama Canal.

The GUPC consortium consists of Spanish constructor Sacyr Vallhermoso, the Italian builder Impregilo, Belgian company Jan De Nul and local construction company Cusa.

We are extremely excited to deliver fire systems to the largest infrastructure project in Latin America. On this high profiled project, the construction machines are in constant use and highly flammable fuels, oils and hydraulic fluids are flowing through pressurised lines within centimetres of hot turbochargers, manifolds and engine blocks. Even the smallest fire can lead to machine down time, costly repairs, not to mention the potential harm to operators.

Installing the Ansul A-101 or A101/LVS Fire Suppression System can be a low cost investment, preventing loss of production, along with the damage fire can cause to your plant machine.

Ardent, a pure fire suppression specialist can protect your staff, business and heavy plant from the devastating effects of fire. We're used to creating solutions to protect heavy plant and equipment - it's what we are good at and how we have built a world-wide reputation.
