| Using water as a suppressant in areas where electronics operate and irreplaceable, high-value etc assets are stored could be as devastating as fire itself. Protect them instead with Ardent's Hygood Sapphire clean agent system, custom engineered to quickly suppressed fires and protect sensitive equipment without causing harm to people or the environment.
The difference is crystal clear
The heart of the system is revolutionary 3M Novec 1230 fire protection fluid, a clear, colourless and odorless cleaning agent. Stored in cylinders in its fluid form, Novec 1230 instantly vaporises upon discharge, totally flooding protected spaces and absorbing heat better than water. In tandem with a sophisticated Ardent fire alarm control, the Sapphire System suppressors the fire before it gets out of hand. Once the danger has passed, Novec 1230 quickly evaporates without harming any valuable assets.
Sapphire suppression systems represent the most effective fire protection on the market today. These systems are especially suited to suppressed fires in areas where electrically non-conductive medium is required, where electronics systems cannot be shut down in emergency, where cleanup of other agents pose a problem, and in normally occupied areas that demand a non-toxic agent.
Safe to people
Because it is used at concentrations of only 4 to 6% by volume, well below the 10% concentration maximum for safe exposure, Novec 1230 provides the wider safety margin of any chemical clean agent available today. In accordance with ISO 14520, Novec 1230 is safe occupied spaces.
Safe to the planet
An ozone depletion potential (ODP) of zero, a global warming potential (GWP) of one and a five-day atmospheric lifetime (the next closest product is 33 years) makes Novec 1230 the cleanest, most environmental friendly chemical agent in existence.
Applications that benefit from Sapphire suppression systems
Novec 1230 fluid is a highly efficient fire extinguishant that can be used for both streaming a flooding applications. It is ideal for hazards including but not limited to:-
- Aviation facilities.
- Commercial/naval vessels.
- Computer and electronic control rooms.
- Critical military systems.
- Data processing centres.
- Medical facilities.
- Museums.
- Offshore platforms.
- Power generation plants.
- Tape storage and vaults.
- Telecommunications switched rooms.
Novec 1230 is suitable for the protection of hazards involving class A, B and C materials. Providing a class A fire is detected quickly and the Novec 1230 discharge promptly and the concentration is maintained for an adequate period of time to allow members to cool, surface fire and embers associated with burning of solid materials are quickly extinguished. Novec 1230 is suitable for use on fires involving live electrical equipment but is not effective and should not be used to fight fires involving:-
- Chemicals containing their own supply of oxygen, such as cellulose nitrate.
- Mixtures containing oxidising agents such a sodium chloride or sodium nitrate.
- Chemicals capable of undergoing auto-thermal decomposition such as some organic peroxides.
- Reactive metals.
- Solid materials of which fires quickly become deep-seated.
- Enclosures already protected by a gaseous system utilising a different agent.
Class B and C fires are quickly extinguished by Novec 1230 at the appropriate concentrations, but they in the case of class see fires the risk of exploiting should be carefully considered and where possible the flammable gas flow should be isolated before or as soon as possible after extinguished went.
